Jacob Brown FBB Chapter 3

       Through out the the memoir Kristen's father has become worse and worse. His alcoholism seems to be getting worse, and is causing him to do exceedingly reckless things. At one point, while intoxicated, he climbs on his daughter's horse and rides it wildly throughout the pasture. The whole time Kristen's mother doesn't fight back, but just lies in her room in a borderline state of depression. At this time it was harder for women to divorce men. Especially women who didn't have jobs of their own. Many women were left with bad husbands because they only had a few other options. Many people in class said they would have left him, and as the memoir went along i was really debating whether she would or not. Finally towards the end of the chapter she mentions that they had more or less separated. I'm glad, but a little surprised her mother had the courage to do it
