Full Body Burden Chapter 6
When I read that Kris was going to work at Rocky Flat’s I was not surprised. Throughout the whole book Kris would mention how she would deny the fact that anything wrong was going on at Rocky Flats, and even when her only true love, Marc, brought it up she still denied the facts. Now that I put all of the story together a question has began to form in my mind. This question is Why has Kristen Iversen wrote this memoir? My opinion is that she reached a point in her life when she had learned all about Rocky Flats and she soon felt overwhelmed with guilt. The fact that her father is an alcoholic may be her way of blaming him for her denial throughout her childhood and life. Although it is indirect it may be true because she keeps bringing up both her denial of Rocky Flats and her father’s alcoholism.
