In this chapter of Full Body Burden, we see that there are many things changing in Kris's life. She gets a job, she discovers love, she has more family troubles, and so on. Her father seems to be getting worse and her mother needs the kids around for support. Kurt gets sick and when he goes to the doctor it seems that he and a lot of the other kids in the area have symptoms of cancer. They develop chronic exhaustion, fever, and swollen lymph nodes. This is the first instance that she really connects her and her siblings to Rocky Flats.
With the recurring theme of change, Iverson's text is starting to remind me of Butler's story. Things are getting harder for Kristen and her family. I am curious to see how her parents work it out or don't, I'm afraid it will be messy and hard on the kids.
