Sorry for the late posts. I just got my computer fixed!
In chapter 2 Kristen's family situation is getting a lot worse. Her father's alcoholism is now seriously putting her family in jeopardy. After his car accident he refuses to admit that it was because he was intoxicated. He makes up excuses, but everyone knows the real reason. This is very hard on the family as a whole, and Kristen's mother is kind of miserable and emotionless. As usual, all of their problems are kept secret and are unspoken. I think it's time for Kristen's mother to step up and find her voice to protect her children. Drinking and driving could end up killing one of them. The other big secret is still the rocky flats situation. More and more people are showing sign of the radiation effects. A lot of people are getting sick with cancer. Everyone is denying that it is because of rocky flats. When will they realize? I understand that it isn't easy to just pick up and move away, but it would be the best choice. People are ignoring the facts. I think that Kristen or someone close to her will soon be directly effected by the radiation, or even her horse. Maybe then they will finally comprehend the severity of the situation.
