I found
chapter 6 to be the saddest chapter yet. I didn’t think that Kris’ father could
get much worse, but now he’s in the hospital.
I thought he couldn’t be worse of a father, but the first time of him
meeting his grandkids is while he’s in the hospital, and he barely cares. When Kris got married and had children, I had
hope for her. She was finally getting
out of the place that had made her so unhappy.
Now she’s a single mom and right back to where she started. What struck me and upset me the most was that
Kris gets a job at Rocky Flats. She
heard about all of the issues with Rocky Flats, and about how more and more was
being discovered, yet she still is willing to risk herself. She has two children who need her, and she
works at Rocky Flats.
However,
she does need money and Rocky Flats is known for paying well. I can understand what would lead her to want
that job since she has a family to support.
It isn’t the safest job, but parents will do whatever they can to
provide for their children. I’m
seriously afraid for Kris’ health and I’m hoping that she somehow stays in good
shape. I would hate to see her get sick
and her children be left motherless. I’m
scared to read forward, since this memoir seems to be getting increasingly
sad. Yet, I know that Kris is strong,; she
is a fighter. I know there isn’t
anything that could keep her form raising her children and being a good mother.
