During this reading of the book, I often saw the resemblance
between the lives of these two girls, and the resemblance of the disasters happening
around them. The Rocky Flats have become a topic around the community and now
the FBI is involved. People who work in
the factory are being questioned and some losing their jobs because of the
hidden secret all these years. While
this is happening in Colorado, Kris moved away and now has two little
boys. She is afraid of following in her
parents footsteps but she is witnessing it happen. I connected to her thoughts in this section
because I often thought that divorce would happen to me because it happened to
my parents. Many other adults also told
me that it would happen. Now Kris is
forced to raise her two little boys on her own and she wants to go back to
school. She realizes that it is an
almost impossible task because she has so many bills to pay. I am beginning to
wonder if Kris will ever come back and protest against the Rocky Flats. I also wonder where her sister ended up and
if she will continue to visit her mother.
I am also wondering if Kris will return to Rocky Flats to voice her opinion. She must get passionate at some point, after all she did write a book about it.
