Full Body Burden 4+5 Alex Parkinson

How does one emerge from ignorance?

It is amazing the change that came about in just two chapters. In chapter four, the majority of people were still ignoring the presence of the plant. There were a few who understood something was wrong and were calling others to action but they were the minority. They were the crazy ones. No one understood why the corruption at Rocky Flats mattered to them. Everyone else looked at the plant as a way of proving who was on top in the world and it was also a source of jobs for the people of Denver. In chapter five everything changes. Once someone important starts to question the plant almost everyone does. A few of the workers talk to the FBI and so do families who have been affected by Rocky Flats. It is no longer something that just goes unquestioned. It seem that everybody and anybody is looking into what really happens at Rocky Flats.
What makes us change our opinion of things so quickly? Rocky Flats was always doing things they shouldn’t have been. Nothing has changed that much in that way. The only thing that has changed is that people are concerned about what is going on and no longer find it acceptable for the government to cover it up. They want answers. Does this change because there is a more authoritative figure leading the protest not just average people? I have found this is something that we see over and over again in the world. There can be something that needs changing but no one will listen until there is a leader.
