This part of the book shocked me. To read about Kristen’s father and how he has
been kicked out of the house but continues to break in, scares me. Personally, my father and I are very close,
so I can’t even imagine this happening in my life. I tried to put myself into this situation and
relate to Kristen and how she was feeling, but I couldn’t. The thing I could relate to though, was the
relationship between Kristen and Mark.
It was always something sweet going on between them and something that
kept me reading and interested. Then
when I got to the part where Mark had died while rock climbing, I couldn’t
believe it… I had to read that part twice because I was so surprised. I felt so horrible for Kristen and I could
feel the pain and the horror that she was experiencing. I don’t know how I would be able to react to
that. After Mark proposed to her and he
was willing to wait for her, he was just gone.
Another thing that surprised me is that the nuclear weapons plant, to this day, is still denying that the plutonium is “no harm” to anyone. People are getting more suspicious and know that it’s becoming a problem, but the plant still chooses to deny it, to protect their reputation.
