The last chapter sums up Full Body Burdon very well. Iverson's story starts from the beginning of the Rocky Flats tragedy, and ends it with the aftermath. It is interesting to see how things have changed over the years. In the beginning of the memoir, nobody really cares about Rocky Flats, and life was much different than it is now. They didn't even have cell phones back then. I think Iverson's reason for writing this is to spread awareness and spark new interest in the Rocky Flats situation. Prior to finishing the book, I thought that all of the problems from Rocky Flats had been solved, but I was wrong. In the end, there are court proceedings that took place in 2010. In addition she said that the supreme court currently deciding whether or not to hear this case. After reading this, Iverson's intentions made a lot more sense to me.
Iverson started the story out in the past, and used the cancer and death from her hometown to get us on her side. She made the government out to look very secretive not caring for the safety of the people at all. She showed examples of many different accidents at Rocky Flats which the government lied about, and also how the courts handled the situation. Obviously, anyone reading the story will be on Iverson's side. If someone reading the book did not do research on the current status of the Rocky Flats court situation, they would assume that it was over by now since most of the story feels like its in the distant past. When the end of the book arrives, we realize the battle is still going on, and at a crucial point. The supreme court is deciding whether or not to hear this case, which could finally be what the people of Colorado need. After reading Full Body Burdon, I feel motivated to expose the secrets of the government and the corruption that they have been a part of. Throughout the story we saw many examples of corruption in the statements of officials, and courts. I think that this book would make a difference on anyone's opinion of the government and make them feel obligated to pay attention to this subject.
