Consorti FBB Ch.2

Chapter two seems to be more of the same in comparison to the first chapter of the book. Although it isn't expressly stated, you can tell that time has passed. The characters have changed slightly as her fathers alcoholism progresses to the point of a serious car crash. In addition Tonka is described as aging, and Kristen is kissing boys. More and more is being discovered about the radiation in the earth, and two neighborhood boys have been diagnosed with testicular cancer. I've noticed the every time statements the government makes about there being no danger are made, they are paralleled with something horrific. Like the cancer I mentioned before, or more tests done on soil or the air. The similarities between her life, and the actions of the government are becoming more concrete in this chapter. She talks about not only the secrecy of her fathers alcoholism, but the secrecy of the community. She mentions "Silence is an easy habit for family or a community". Its easy for the government to lie, and its easy for everyone to buy into the lies and stay silent.
