Full Body Burdon ch 3- Mike Giolli

Kris's relationship with her father has become even worse. At the end of chapter two, I thought it was very bad but it continued to decline. When the chapter started, her family was afraid of her father and the mother didn't know what to do. As this chapter progressed, her father became a hazard to live with. Often Kris would stay with her mother blocking the door from her drunk father. Thing have turned from bad to unlivable. I have noticed that as the story goes on the radiation and her fathers condition continue to worsen. I was surprised to learn that her parents separated. I think her father simply does not care enough about the family which is why he never talks to any of them, and just puts all of his time into working.
The situation at rocky flats has gotten better in my opinion. Although sickness and radiation have continued to worsen, at least the public is now aware. The public demonstrations are a constant thing now, and it is only a matter of time before something is done about it. I think that the public will demand a real study in the future. I think the government will take so long to do anything about the dangerous radiation, that the Cold War will end and we will have no need for the plutonium detonators.
When Kristens brother got sick and had the symptoms of Leukemia, I was excited because I thought my prediction in my last blog entry was spot on. I had a feeling that someone in her family would become sick from the radiation, and I still think that something is bound to happen. Kris did mention that her and her siblings are constantly sick. Kristen finally met a boy that had a lasting presence in her life. She had bad luck with men for her entire life, including her father! I was happy to see that she was falling in love with a guy, but had a feeling that something would happen that would end their relationship. I was not expecting him to die, especially doing something that Kristen and him did together!
This book has become a lot more interesting than the first chapter as the two aspects of the story have come together. I am eager to see how the protests play out at Rocky Flats.

  1. I was also very eager to see the moment when the two narratives intersected. However was not expecting Kristen to respond so defensively to the news of the protests. She seemed quite reluctant to hear the news about Rocky Flats, but I suppose any of us would if we were in her position. When her relationship with Mark began to flourish it seemed like an unusually happy moment it an otherwise disheartening book. Of course when mother first called her I had expected that it was her father who died not Mark. This chapter was infinitely more interested than the first two chapters and I actually wanted to continue reading.
