The first
chapter of this novel was, at times, difficult to understand. The constant jumping around from situation to
situation was confusing. I had to often
go back and refer to other paragraphs about the people I was reading about at
the time. I however, did think it was
interesting reading about a plutonium plant.
I have to admit that even after reading the first chapter, I’m not
certain of where the book will be going.
It seemed to me as if the author’s thoughts were everywhere at
once. Not only did the author switch
from person to person, but also years. I
didn’t particularly enjoy the reading in general, it was a little dry. I couldn’t quite connect all of the pieces of
the different stories together. I’m
hoping that the story becomes more clear as it goes on, so that I gain more
understanding. Kristin’s perspective proved to be the most
interesting part of the story. Her
background and facts about her family made the most sense throughout the first
chapter.
