Full Body Burden #3- Shelby Gallant

I wanted to start off by saying that this book is just becoming more and more disappointing. It's hard for me to sit back and read as Kristen's family deteriorates. It's extremely disheartening to see how messed up her dad is and how she can't seem to do anything about it. I'm sure that having a messed up family is hard enough without the added burden of living somewhere so unsafe. Three chapters in and I am still confused as to why her family stays where they are. Many will argue it's because of the "American Dream", but what good is that if you aren't healthy enough to enjoy it? I think that if Kristen had a different home life her parents may be more inclined to move. However, if they are already so unhappy and dysfunctional is there really a chance of improvement? I am interested to see how the family dynamics will tie into the issues surrounding the Rocky Flats.

  1. I have to agree with you on how depressing this book is. It felt like insult to injury when not only her family is falling apart, but then Marcus died as well
