As Parable of the Sower
progresses, I became more and more hopeful for a happy ending for Lauren
and her newly found allies. My first worry is that Zahra will become pregnant
because of her stupid actions with Harry. Will it lead to a baby? As I continued
to read, I forgot about Zahra’s mistakes and began to feel a little hopeful
when they found a beach. The fact that they actually felt some joy for the
first time in years may foreshadow a happy ending.
I was shocked to read that Lauren’s group of three is now a
group of eight plus a baby. I believe that the strength in numbers will help
them to survive. Although I believe this, was it smart of Lauren to stop and
help out the women under the house? Will this action lead to any more attacks
by scavengers? And can every new ally be trusted? I think the amount of people in
their group will make robbery and danger less of a worry.
Lauren becomes more intelligent with every struggle she encounters.
She seems to be the leader of the group and the most educated. Also, Lauren
seems to be dealing with her hyperempathy better now than before. It still
holds her back but at least she can defend herself and the people that matter
to her.
Lauren’s Earthseed idea is flourishing within her group of
allies. Most of them are on board with it and want a nice community desperately. Even Travis, who seemed reluctant on joining
in on their group, likes the idea of Earthseed. With the help of everyone in
the group, will Earthseed become a reality or continue to be an idea?
