Final post- Mike Giolli

The final segment of this book was disappointing. I kept asking myself when something exciting would happen, but it never did. When the group that Lauren has been travelling with formed, I predicted that it would soon come to an end by some kind of tragedy. The end of the book was pretty uneventful. Besides the firefight with the pyros, Lauren and the group had a pretty easy time getting to Bankoles property. I thought it was interesting that Lauren met two other people with hyperempathy. I think it helped Lauren because she felt like she had something in common with someone; she is always feeling like an outcast. I am also disappointed that we didn't learn anything else about Laurens father. I predicted that we would eventually find out that he was alive or at least get reassurance that he was dead. I think that Lauren likes Bankole because he replaces her father figure. Bankole is old and probably the same age or older than her father was. It is surprising that he agrees with Earthseed since he is so old. Usually people do not change their view on religion so late in life.
The ending was very dull. The group arrives at Bankoles property without any issues. It was almost too easy. I don't think it was smart to bring so many people to live on the property; they will only have limited resources. I was hoping that in the end the state of the country would change since Earthseed is all about change. I predicted that the pyros would take over the poor parts of the country, and was looking forward to how the group would react and how Earthseed would play a part. Although I was upset with the end of this book, I am glad I read it. It gave good insight on resources. When I think of the future I think of the opposite of how Octavia portrayed it. I think that our technological advances will help solve our resource scarcity problems. Hopefully for our sake, I'm right!
