Parable of the Sower Final Post (Ryan Panko)

Parable of the Sower personally exceeded my expectations. Although I have been told so many times to “never judge a book by its cover”, I still did. However, I am pleased to say, that I was wrong. Upon receiving the book I did not imagine that I would soon be neck-deep in a science fiction dystopia that shies away from the stereotypical alien invasion dystopian book. Parable of the Sower took me on an unexpected and engaging ride. Early in the book I was fearful that Lauren would remain in her community for the entire book. Needless to say I did not want the setting to remain the same the entire book. When she decided to leave I found myself excited to read about the world outside her community. On the road, Lauren and the others ran into many troubles that kept me buried in the book. As Lauren’s group grew, my hope for Earthseed did too. Earthseed may be the movement to make a difference in her chaotic world. The book ends with a parable from the Bible which suggests that Lauren and Earthseed will succeed. Although there is no concrete evidence that they succeed, I believe that the group has enough drive to create a community that is livable in the circumstances dealt.

  1. Ryan, I completely agree with you about everything. Although, I would like to let you know that this book does have a sequel in case you do want to discover if Lauren and her friends do survive or not. For being an assigned book, Parable of the Sower was truly amazing
