Parable of the sower 125-195 jenny pollack

I wonder if the Garfield’s were smart for leaving Robledo and moving to Olivar. They escaped the huge fire and murder by the thieves. Even though there isn’t much money in Olivar, did the Garfields make the right decision? Was there any way for the rest of the community to avoid the burning down of their community? I am completely and totally shocked with the progression of this book. I hoped that one day, Lauren, her family, and friends, would find happiness and peace. I hoped that they would find a new community and live in a brighter world.  I cannot believe that Lauren’s father disappeared and I still hope that one day he will return. Also, I never thought that almost the entire community would be killed and Lauren would be forced to leave sooner than she ever thought. I keep wondering, is her family really dead? Was Zahra correct with what she saw? And is Curtis dead? Even though the future continues to become worse, Lauren is a very smart girl and I think she can survive the outside world. I think Lauren, Harry, and Zahra make a very good team. If they continue to work together maybe they really will make it north or to a safer place.

As the book, Parable of the Sower, progresses I begin more and more to feel and share Lauren’s hyperempathy. When the entire community was burnt down and tortured, my chest tightened up and it was hard to continue to read.  I wouldn’t be able to survive without my family. They are my world and if the tragedies that are occurring to Lauren occurred to me, I would not be able to go on.  It would be the end for me which is why it is very surprising that Lauren is pushing forward. I think her hyperempathy and knowledge will help her get to the north and I truly believe that there is a happy ending for her in the future.
