Rebecca Gold- Full Body Burden C 1

I was not very impressed with the first chapter of this book. I really did not like the way the author wrote the memoir. She jumped around from scene to scene often and it left me confused and lost while reading. I felt as if the tone of the text was extremely serious and I do not yet understand fully the theme of the book. I understand the book takes place outside of a nuclear power plant, Rocky Flats, in Colorado and that almost everyone who lives outside the plant is very to them selves. I find it very strange how sketchy things are around the plant. After the first major power plant fire, the government would not fully disclose what happened. All they disclosed to the public was that there were some issues inside the tubes inside the plant, which cause a fire. If I were Iversen and her family I would not want to live around a place like this. Why do her parents think its okay to raise children next to something so toxic? Especially since her father has his own practice I believe they can move where ever they want and will be able to live sufficiently. I find it even harder that her mother and father are so secretly. They do not talk about certain things, and Kris and her siblings even know not to bring certain things up. I do not think this is a family if you can not be open and be able to talk about things as a family.

  1. Rebecca, I agree... I hated the jump from one scene to the next and I'm still confused on what's going on.
