However, I did like how Lauren and the rest of the group decided to start Acorn with Earthseed. I think that made the book more of a conclusion. I think this because Lauren continues to talk about it through out the book and if there was nothing to come out of it, it would have been pointless.

Rebecca Gold: Final entry
At the conclusion of this text I was very surprised. I really was thinking that their final destination would be nothing like how it actually was. I was expecting rolling, lushes hills, with houses and opportunities to work and start a normal life. I guess something more like a "normal" community. I was not expecting what it actually was like. I was astonished to say the least. And i was even more surprised that they decided to stay there and start a community called Acorn. If I had already walked as far as they did and was expecting something completely different then what they found, I would of continued more north. Even though it was not Banokle's fault that the land was the way it is, I still would of left. The ending of this book really was not what I was expecting. And I am a little annoyed that it did end the way it did. The last few chapters were just about traveling, people getting hurt, deaths, love and pyro. I expected more of a dramatic ending.

I do agree that with everything they endured while traveling North I was expecting a better resolution. One which definitively indicates what happens to Lauren and Acorn. I suppose that the sequel will provide such a resolution. However considering the brutality of their lives a place as remote as Acorn may be suitable to what they want to accomplish.
