Parable of the Sower by Octavia butler
is an interesting look into what would have been the possibilities of the
future for 2024. Now as we are closer to the approach of the year it’s not as
much of a concern as it would have been for people reading the book when it was
first published in 1993. However; it is still a fascinating way to look at the
future and how things have potential for change. The concept of a young girl
knowing what she wants to move away from her fathers beliefs and pursue her own
is something that is intriguing for any time. Children are thought to follow
their upbringings, which is why she at first goes along with the baptism of her
father’s religions and gods. This text raises many questions and makes one
think about what our society could eventually happen.
